Joe Klutsch has lived in Alaska since 1972. Joe and his wife Carol have lived in bush Alaska for thirty-five years operating a sport fishing business during the summer months and guiding hunters in the spring and fall months. Joe became a Registered Guide in 1980 and earned his Master Guide License in 1992. Joe has been actively involved in public lands issues since enactment of the Alaska Lands Act in 1980, working to secure future hunting and fishing opportunities in the state. He has served as President of Alaska Professional Hunters Association for eight years and is the recipient of the Safari Club International Professional Hunter of the Year award (1996), the Dallas Safari Club Professional Hunter of the Year award(1998), and the Wild Sheep Foundation Frank Golata Outstanding Outfitter Award in 1999. Joe's son, Joe, Jr. (Joey) has grown up hunting, fishing, trapping, and guiding and carries on the family tradition as an assistant guide.
