2011 Update

The 2011 fishing season began with trophy Rainbow Trout, Lake Trout, Northern Pike and Char fishing in Katmai National Park during June.  These are all wild fish caught from pristine waters.  By June 25 we were into the King Salmon and the front end of the Sockey (Red) Salmon run which ultimately exceeded the run forecast of 28.5 million with 30.4 million entering Bristol Bay.  1.2 million of those fish swam right by our docks on the Naknek  River.  Our fishermen enjoyed fantastic Sockey Salmon fishing!  This year there is a 32.3 million forecast for Bristol Bay so we are looking forward to another great year ahead.

We worked hard for our King Salmon managing to catch good numbers of large fish by working the tide cycles.  Chum Salmon runs were strong followed by a very good Silver Salmon run which kept us busy throughout August.  All the species of freshwater fish were available too.  A highlight for all of our  guests was the Brown Bear viewing.  It is undoubtedly the best in the world!

Sport Fishing

Sport fishing trips are run from our remote lodge on the shores of the Naknek River near King Salmon, Alaska. The watersheds of the Bristol Bay Region are unique in that five species of Salmon begin and end their life cycles here.  These are the King Salmon (Chinook), Sockeye (Red), Coho (Silver), Pink (Humpy) and Chum (Dog) Salmon.  At least six species of freshwater sport fish inhabit the rivers, lakes and streams as well.  These are the Rainbow Trout, Grayling, Lake Trout, Northern Pike, Dolly Varden and Char.  All of these species are wild fish.  No stocked species are present in the areas we fish.  It is not surprising that the Bristol Bay Region of Alaska is often referred to as an "Angler's Paradise". All trips originate in King Salmon, Alaska.
